What’s in my beauty bag?

I have always been a huge lover of anything beauty. As a little girl, I would always play beauty shop with my friends, and now at the fine age of 21 years old, I STILL play beauty shop with my friends! I love doing hair and makeup and making others feel beautiful.

If teaching doesn’t work out, I’m totally going to go to beauty school! 😉

Tonight I’m going to share a few of my go-to beauty products I use on the regular.

I love to try out new things, and if you do, too, I would recommend signing up for a monthly subscription to ipsy. It’s only $10/month, and you will get a “Glam Bag” in the mail every month with beauty samples in it. I get some amazing stuff! When you sign up, you create a profile that will customize your samples to fit you.

I’m also not one of those girls that will go and spend $50 on foundation, or any other beauty product. I like to shop at my local retailers, such as Walmart and ULTA. I also order some essentials on Avon.com.

In order to have great skin, you have to take proper care of it. Two things to remember: always remove your make up before going to bed and use a night cream to keep your skin looking young.

I use Maybelline Clean Express makeup remover. It really does a great job removing gobs of eye makeup (even waterproof!).

Just to get a deep clean on my face before I apply my night cream, I use Equate Night-Time Soothing Makeup Remover Towelettes. These things are the off-brand to the Clean & Clear kind, and they work just the same (plus you get more for your money with the Equate brand).

To finish off my night routine, I use Equate Night-Time Firming Cream. This stuff is wonderful, and it smells so clean.

Now it’s time to get down to business!

To start off my beauty routine, I use Equate Dual Power Moisturizer (Once again, this is the knock-off of Clean & Clear). This gets my face soft and ready to hold all of my makeup.

Next, I prime my face with ULTA Flawless Prime. This stuff makes my face feel soft as baby’s skin.

After the moisturizing and priming, I begin to apply Maybelline New York Dream Wonder Fluid-Touch Liquid Foundation. Okay, y’all, this foundation is amazing! It goes on as a liquid, but feels like a powder after it dries. It’s so light-weight, yet has amazing coverage!

For any blemishes or dark under eyes, I dab on It Cosmetics Bye Bye Under Eye Concealer. I got this sample for free in my ipsy bag, but it can be found online at ULTA. This item is a little pricey ($24), but so worth the splurge. It doesn’t take much to get great coverage, so the tube will go very far!

After setting the base for the rest of my makeup, I use one of two products. For natural and easy highlight and contour, my go-to is NYX Wonder Stick. For a more dramatic highlight and contour, I use the ULTA Contour Kit. You can check out this post for reference on what areas of your face should be highlighted and contoured.

I love using a little bit of blush to give me a rosy glow. My favorite blush is AVON Smooth Minerals. It is a very fine powder that applies so effortlessly (and always remember, less is more when it comes to blush and eyeshadow).

You should always seal your work and get a smooth finish with a loose powder. Just sweep a little over your face, and blend, blend, blend! My go-to is Rimmel London Stay Matte Pressed Powder.

Moving on to eyes and brows…

I have brown eyes, so i naturally go for nudes and browns on my eyes. Although, nudes and browns look good with any eye color.

Here are a few of my favorite shadows:

mark. On the Dot Eye Color Compact in Neutrals

Rob Scheppy ‘Tini Beauty eye shadow in Pearl Fizz

Maybelline Expert Wear eye shadow in Natural Smokes

To top off my eye look, I line my top lids with AVON Glimmersticks Waterproof Eye Liner in Blackest Night, and put one coat of mark. Scanda-Lash Go-To Mascara in Blackest Black on my top and bottom lashes, and one coat of mark. Lash Act Build and Define Mascara in Blackest Black on my top lashes only.

To finish off my overall look, I use AVON Makeup Setting Spray. Just spray a few times, let it sit for a second or two, and you’re done!

Enjoy! 🙂

Weekend Favorites

Hey, y’all! As the weekend is nearing, I’m going to share with you a few of my fave Etsy shops.

If you’ve never heard of Etsy, all I have to say is you’ve been missing out on a little piece of heaven!

Being the good southern lady that I am, I LOVE monograms! If it can be monogrammed, trust me, I have it!

So here’s the list of my favorite shops:

Two Little Hoots Designs– this store specializes in monograms! Last Christmas I ordered a glitter monogrammed sweatshirt, and it is too cute! I wash it a LOT, and it is still in perfect condition! The monogram hasn’t started peeling off, the sweatshirt is a great quality, and it is super comfy! They offer a variety of cute and affordable items!

Two Little Lollipops Accessories– if you’re a photographer, this shop is perfect for you! They make patterned monogrammed camera strap covers that are super comfortable when wearing your camera around your neck. I bought my best friend one (she has a photography business), and I can’t wait to give it to her!

Badgetopia – As a college student going to get my Bachelor’s degree in elementary education, this site makes me get butterflies in my stomach! I can’t wait for the day that I will have to get a badge clip to put my I.D. on when I start teaching. This shop specializes in blinging out badge clips, and they even monogram them if you want! My mom and best friend are both nurses, and I have purchased both of them badge clips from this site. They are super affordable, most of them are only $10!

Marcy Sew Special– If you guessed that this shop specializes in monograms, you guessed right! Let me tell you, this store is fabulous! They offer a variety of things, such as sweatshirts, totes, vests, rain coats, athletic shorts, and more. Check it out!

MS Mudpie Boutique– Okay, y’all! This shop holds the key to my heart! It’s all about house decor! Tumblers, jewelry dishes, flasks, koozies, key chains, totes, t-shirts, you name it! Of course, everything can be monogrammed! The prices are so affordable, too!

Hope y’all go check them out! I’d love to hear your feedback!

Taming the Beast

If you are anything like me, maintaining your eyebrows is more of a chore than anything. I am OCD about making sure my eyebrows are constantly plucked, waxed, whatever it takes to make them look good.

I like to fill in my eyebrows so they look full and natural.

I love using the Ultra Luxury Brow Liner pencil from Avon. It gives me the perfect brow every time.

After filling in my brows, I put a coat of clear gel on to seal it and keep my brows from moving.

I love using Wet Gloss Lash & Brow Clear Mascara by e.l.f.

Here’s what my brows look like after using the eyebrow pencil from Avon and the gloss from e.l.f.:

Eye brow game on point!

Everyone needs a little highlight in their life…

Okay, ladies… I’ve boarded the highlight & contour bandwagon. In some cases, women take the highlight and contour thing to the extreme. I like to go with a more natural approach. I have found a great product that perfectly highlights and defines certain areas of my face without making me look fake.

It’s called the “Wonder Stick” by NYX. It comes in a few different shades. I use the lightest shade because I have a fair skin tone.

ULTA carries this wonderful product, and I’m sure you could find it in various other places as well. Just Google it!

All you do is “draw” on your face using both ends of the stick, focusing on the areas you want highlighted and contoured.

I used a stippling brush to blend it in (another product ULTA carries). Make sure to blend, blend, and blend some more.

You can finish off your look with a loose face powder or leave it as is.

It’s so good to be back!

Hey, y’all! It’s been over a year since I last posted anything on the blog. Phew! So much has happened in this past year! I got engaged to the man of my dreams in May 2014! He’s such a southern gentleman! (And did I mention handsome as can be?!) Since the engagement, I’ve been planning my wedding, remodeling my childhood home that I will start my own family in one day with my soon-to-be husband, and trying to finish up my junior year of college. With all of that going on, I must say I have been one busy lady! Thankfully, I am getting my inspiration back to continue doing my blog. Soon I will be posting new recipes, beauty tips, and some DIY projects I’m working on. I can’t wait to share all of that with you guys! Stay tuned for more! 🙂
